A Journey Through Landscape and Emotion

 Some journeys begin with a destination. Mine began with a pencil.

As a child growing up in the small town of Myszyniec in northeastern Poland, I discovered that drawing could express what words never could. After losing my father at a young age of 5 years, art became my quiet place—a way to make sense of emotions that were too difficult to explain. Surrounded by forests, rivers, changing skies, and endless fields, I found comfort in nature. Those early memories have never left me. They still live within every painting I create.

Life, however, has a way of changing our path. I graduate of the Prestigious PLSP Art School in Lomza name of Wojciech Kossak., built a career, and raised my children, some with autism and for many years my own creativity had to wait while life demanded my attention. Even when I wasn't painting, I never stopped seeing the world as an artist. Every sunrise, every reflection on water, every walk through the countryside quietly reminded me that one day I would return.

That day came after one of the most difficult periods of my life.

A serious health crisis forced me to stop, reflect, and ask myself what truly mattered. In that moment I realised life is too precious to leave dreams waiting. I made the courageous decision to leave my profession and dedicate myself fully to painting.

It wasn't simply a return to art—it was a return to myself.

Today I paint landscapes that are not meant to describe a place, but a feeling. They are inspired by memories, moments of stillness, changing light, and the emotional connection we all have with nature. My paintings exist somewhere between reality and imagination, inviting viewers to pause, breathe, and remember places that perhaps only exist in the heart.

My work is collected internationally and has been recognised through exhibitions, awards, and collaborations, but these achievements are not what define me. What matters most is knowing that one of my paintings has found a home where it brings peace, hope, or reminds someone of their own memories.

Because that is why I paint.

To remind us that even after life's darkest moments, there is always light waiting to be found. And sometimes, that light begins with a single brushstroke.

Artist Statement 

Bogusława Bryska is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the relationship between memory, light, shadow, and emotional landscape. Working across abstract and expressive forms, her paintings investigate the dialogue between colour, texture, and atmosphere, inviting viewers to reflect on personal experience and shared human emotion. Her work has been exhibited internationally across Europe and North America and has received recognition through juried exhibitions, international art competitions, and publications.
